Couple Smiling

Thank you for visiting the website of Kirsten Banks, LPC and Banks Counseling & Recovery, LLC.  I believe one of the most influential relationships can be the relationship between client and therapist.  Through effective therapy techniques, supportive community resources and this relationship clients can truly begin to change their lives.  I work with you to develop an individualized plan to help you get the most out of your therapy and your life.  I also can utlize brief therapy techniques that get results for those people who want some solutions in a short amount of time.  Research does support that brief therapy techniques are effective.

My mission is to help the whole family heal and grow.  One of my specialties is working with young adults or teens and their parents.  I have a lot of experience working with addiction and codependency issues in the family.  I believe in recovery and can work with the family, young adult and teen to begin to experience a life of recovery and gain some hope for the future.  I feel that opiate addiction is becoming an epidemic in the young population and I can provide resources and help specifically with this type of addiction.

I believe in treating each client with the most respect and professionalism possible.  I also believe in a more progressive approach to therapy which may include emails, phone calls, texting in between sessions to follow-up on a client's progress especially for young people.  I also can coordinate with client to meet people in the community who may be a resource to them for further support. For example, if a client wants to attend a 12-step meeting I can arrange for someone to meet them at the local coffee shop to help them go to their first meeting or to learn more about such meetings.  Also, if a client has anxiety and stress related issues I can coordinate for them a plan to begin to attend free yoga or meditation seminars.   I really believe in tailoring a plan for each family and each client that works for that family or that particular person.  I provide a safe non-judgemental place for clients to begin to learn how to live a better life and be the person they may never thought they could be.
